The NEOM city has recently signed a deal to build seven solar power plants, significantly contributing to the country’s renewable energy goals. NEOM is a groundbreaking project that aims to create a hub for regional innovation and sustainability.
A sizable contract has been given to Assystem by NEOM through its subsidiary ENOWA. This agreement may open the door for Saudi Arabia to produce up to 20 GW of photovoltaic solar power.
The choice was made to carry out a thorough set of pre-development studies by Assystem, an international firm with expertise in engineering, digital, and project management services. Seven solar photovoltaic parks planned for the Tabuk and Duba districts will each receive a study, according to a statement from Assystem.
Creating these solar parks is a crucial milestone in NEOM’s ambitious plan to become the most cutting-edge renewable energy hub and the first renewable large-scale electrical grid. To carry out this directive, Assystem will send out a team of subject matter experts to offer various vital services.
The preliminary design of the parks and master planning, environmental baseline surveys, environmental and social impact assessment studies, and permitting studies are some of the services offered.

Assystem will carry out numerous crucial studies, including geotechnical, geophysical, topographical, hydrological, glint and glare, and corrosion assessments, as part of this extensive scope. The business will additionally calculate energy yields and create cutting-edge park designs.
The chosen sites, which cover a 420 square km area, can produce over 20 GW of electricity or over 65% of the land for generating energy.
The city’s commitment to renewable energy is a testament to its dedication to building a sustainable future. With the construction of these solar power plants, NEOM is taking a step towards a cleaner, greener future, and we can’t wait to see what else this innovative city has in store.
