March 2023 has been a month of experiencing 4 milestones. Of these 4 milestones, one is issuing the highest number of ITAs in a single all-program since the inauguration of the Express Entry system in 2015. In March 2023, IRCC released 7,000 ITAs in a single all-program draw.
Express Entry System was established by the federal government in 2015 by.” This system works to manage the application of three major economic programs that are FSWP, FSTP, and CEC. In order to apply for the PR via any program, you need to satisfy the program’s requirements.
This system has gained popularity because of the Immigration Levels Plan for 2023 to 2025. Through this new immigration levels plan, Canada wishes to welcome over 82,000 newcomers yearly under Express Entry for the next three years.
Remark: According to the new immigration plan for 2023 to 2025, Canada will be inviting 82,800 in the year 2023, 109,020 in the year 2024, & 114,000 in the year 2025 via Express Entry.
In the journey of achieving this goal, March has been a month of hitting four major milestones. The following are the milestones of the March-
1.March 2023: A Month of Issuing the Highest ITAs Over the Past Two Years.
In the post-pandemic era, March 2023 has become the month of issuing the highest ITAs since February 2021. The IRCC issued 21,667 ITAs in total over a month through 4 draws. By issuing 21,667 ITAs in a single month, March 2023 has become the second-largest EE month of issuing the highest ITAs since the inauguration of Express Entry in 2015.
2.A Month of the Largest all-program Draw ever Recorded in the History of EE : March 2023
March 2023 stood out as the month of setting a record for the largest all-program draw. The last record for the same was recorded in January 2023. In March 2023, the IRCC conducted an all-program draw wherein 7,000 ITAs were issued. On the other hand, in the January all-program draw, 5,500 ITAs were issued.
The IRCC issued the same figure for ITAs in the two more draws as well. In other words, 21,000 ITAs in total were issued in three consecutive draws, making it the largest all-program draw ever recorded in the history of Express Entry.
3. 21,000 ITAs over a Span of Two Weeks.
In March, the IRCC unveiled 4 draws in total. Across these 4 draws, the total number of issued ITAs was 21,667. However, 21,000 ITAs were issued by the IRCC over two consecutive weeks. The IRCC department unveiled three draws between 15 March and 29 March.
The first record-setting draw was released on 15 March 2023 with 7,000 ITAs. This was an all-program draw wherein candidates from all the programs meeting the cut-off were invited to apply for PR. After this draw, IRCC came up with a surprise draw eight days later with 7,000 ITAs on 23 March 2023. After the second draw happened on 23 March 2023, IRCC unveiled one more draw on 29 March 2023 and issued 7,000 ITAs. Amongst these three draws, the number of issued ITAs remained the same, but the CRS score kept falling. By these three draws, 21,000 candidates from all programs under the EE received ITAs to submit the application for PR.
4. March Became a Month Seeing the Lowest CRS Score in the Last 27 Months.
Getting an ITA in the Express Entry relies on your CRS score. The higher the CRS score, the higher the chances of getting selected for an ITA. Your CRS score depends on factors like age, work experience, highest qualification, language ability, etc. If you secure a CRS score equivalent to or higher than the cut-off, you will receive the ITA for a PR visa.
In March 2023, the CRS score was recorded at 481, which is the lowest CRS score ever recorded since December 2020. The CRS score lower than 481 was 468, recorded on 23 December 2020.
How will Express Entry Work in 2023?
It has always been hard to predict the upcoming draw, CRS score, and number of ITAs. There is no typical and precise format that IRCC should follow for conducting draws and issuing ITAs. Although there is a criterion that IRCC used to follow till the last year, which is conducting draws once every two weeks. However, the IRCC is not sticking to this pattern of conducting draws this year. This year, the IRCC has been conducting surprise and consecutive draws. Maybe, IRCC is following this unusual pattern of conducting draws to achieve its high “immigration target 2023-2025.”
Additionally, the IRCC is all set to conduct the targeted draws. It is expected that the IRCC will initiate conducting the targeted draws from the Q2 of this year. However, the exact date is not yet disclosed. In the targeted draws, draws will take place based on specific factors, which could be occupation, language ability, educational background, in-demand occupations, etc. Operating targeted draws will help Canada to deal with the labor shortage effectively.
