Latest Express Entry Draw Sends ITAs to 3,500 Applicants

The IRCC developed the eleventh Express Entry draw of 2023 on 26 April 2023. This draw stood out as an all-program draw wherein candidates from eligible programs under the Express Entry were considered.

In this latest Express Entry draw, the IRCC (Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada) issued ITAs to 3,500 candidates meeting the minimum CRS requirement. The minimum CRS requirement in the draw that took place on 26 April 2023 was 483. Candidates from FSWP, FSTP, and CEC satisfying this CRS score requirement obtained an ITA for a PR visa.

The number of issued ITAs in this draw was similar to the draw that happened on 12 April 2023. However, the CRS score between these two draws remained different. The CRS score of the 12 April 2023 draw was 486.

March 2023: A Month of Hitting Milestones in the Express Entry

March 2023 has been a month of achieving milestones. In a month, the IRCC came up with 3 all-programs and 1 program-specific draw. 21,000 candidates received ITAs to apply for a PR visa through 3 all-program draws in a month. This stood out as the second-highest number of ITAs issued by the IRCC in a single month.

The first record of issuing the highest number of ITAs was set in February 2021. In February 2021, the IRCC issued 27,332 ITAs to CEC candidates. It was a program-specific draw where candidates from the CEC program only were considered for the ITAs.

The first all-program draw of March 2023 sent ITAs to 7,000 candidates and became the largest-ever all-program draw of Express Entry. After this, IRCC came up with two more all-program draws with the same number of ITAs. These three all-program draws made a total of 21,000 ITAs in a single month. In March, IRCC conducted one program-specific draw, wherein 667 ITAs were released to PNP candidates only.

In the month of March 2023, a total of four draws took place over the four weeks. Of these 4 draws, three were all-program wherein candidates from all programs operative under the Express Entry were invited to apply for PR. On the other hand, one draw was a program-specific draw. 4 consecutive draws over 4 weeks were strange as the IRCC usually conducts a draw every two weeks.

What is Express Entry System?

Express Entry System was launched by the federal government back in 2015 by eliminating the “first come, first served” process. This system is responsible for managing the applications of three economic programs. Economic programs operating under the Express Entry are FSWP, FSTP, and CEC. All these economic programs under the Express Entry target candidates based on different eligibility criteria.

To apply for a PR visa through any of these economic pathways under EE, you must first align with the eligibility criteria. The eligibility criteria of economic programs vary from one to another. Therefore, before you initiate the process, ensure you support the program’s requirements via which you aim to apply.

FSWP: FSWP stands for Federal Skilled Worker Program. To be qualified for this program, you must have 1-year of work experience in an occupation listed under the NOC TEER categories.

FSTP: FSTP is the acronym for Foreign Skilled Trade Program. In order to immigrate to Canada through this program, you must have 2 years of work experience within the last 5 years in an occupation listed under the NOC TEER 2 and 3. You must also have an employment letter from a Canadian employer for at least 1 year or a certificate of qualification issued by the province or federal government in that particular skilled trade.

CEC: CEC refers to Canadian Experience Class. If you wish to immigrate to Canada through this program, you must have at least 1 year of Canadian work experience within the last 36 months. Along with this, you will have to satisfy other requirements of the program.

Once you qualify for any program, you can create your profile through the same program. After creating an EE profile, you will be added to the pool of applicants with a CRS score. A CRS score is assigned to you based on multiple factors, including age, work experience, education, language ability, etc. Candidates scoring a high CRS score in the pool get the ITAs for PR.

If you receive an ITA, you are bound to apply within 60 days to the IRCC. The IRCC will scrutinize your application to verify the details and documents. If approved, you will receive a Confirmation of Permanent Residency.
