Future Viewpoint

As you already know, Canada has been running under a serious labor shortage since the post-pandemic. The government is opting for different pathways to address the labor shortage across Canada. However, newcomers in Canada mostly prefer to reside in some particular provinces. Therefore, the distribution of labor is not equal.

There are various industries in Canada that are continuously facing a workforce shortage.

Therefore, the federal government is going to make some significant changes in the express entry draws by 2023. Express entry is the prime way for the Canadian government to bring skilled foreign workers to Canada. To address the industry-specific workforce shortage, Canada will be conducting industry/occupation-specific draws.

The industry/occupation-associated draws will be operated under the express entry from the 1st quarter of 2023. In this industry/occupation industry, candidates with some particular skill set, language proficiency, and educational background will be invited. Canada also recently released the TEER system with NOC 2021. The TEER system is the revision of the NOC 2016. This new system is going to help Canada in several different ways, such as-

  • A better understanding of the need for the labor market
  • Forecasting the upcoming employment challenges
  • Providing the most suitable candidates to the Canadian employer
  • Helping foreign workers in getting job that aligns with their background

This strategy will help Canada to address the workforce shortage easily throughout Canada. Also, this government will be entitled to bring immigrants with specific skill sets and experience to fulfill regional job market needs. There are several sectors in Canada where the demand for labor is at its peak.
