Another Program-Specific Express Entry Invites 589 Candidates

The IRCC carried out the twelfth draw of 2023, wherein 589 candidates were invited. However, this draw was a program-specific draw in which candidates with PNP nominations were invited. A program-specific draw is a type in which candidates from a specific program meeting the cut-off receive the ITAs.

The draw conducted on 10 May 2023 was a PNP-specific draw. Candidates in the EE pool with the PNP nominations were invited to apply for the PR visa. The minimum CRS score to get the ITA was 691.

This draw stood out as the fourth PNP-specific draw in 2023. In 2023, the IRCC has been conducting various program-specific draws for different programs to achieve its high levels immigration plan. The last PNP-specific draw came out on 1 March 2023, wherein 667 candidates got the ITAs. Candidates with the PNP nomination received the ITAs to apply for the Canadian PR visa, irrespective of the program.

Proof of Funds Updated by the IRCC

The IRCCC made a new update regarding the proof of funds on 2 May 2023. The IRCC has changed the requirement for proof of funds. All the candidates eligible to demonstrate proof of funds need to meet the updated proof of funds requirement.

All Express Entry applicants are required to submit the report of proof of funds while submitting their application to the IRCC. Proof of funds report justifies that you are financially stable to sustain your cost of living and expenses upon landing in Canada. Attaching the proof of funds report is mandatory for all the Express Entry candidates flying to Canada on a PR visa.

There are exceptions when you are not bound to submit proof of funds reports. If you are meeting any of the below conditions, you are exempted from submitting the proof of funds report:

  • Having a job offer letter from a Canadian employer
  • Candidates from the CEC program applying for a PR visa
  • Applicants who are authorized to work in Canada

In order to stay eligible under the Express Entry pool, all the candidates are required to update their proof of funds requirement as required. By updating, you can demonstrate that you have enough money to manage your expenses with the cost of living.

The IRCC makes changes in proof of funds every year. It is calculated using 50% of the low-income cut-off totals and fluctuates depending on the number of people the applicant must be able to help.

What is Express Entry System?

Express Entry System was launched by the federal system back in 2015. The federal government uses the point-based system to find the most qualified and appropriate candidates. Candidates who score the highest PR points in the pool get the ITAs to apply for the PR visa.

This system works to supervise the application of three major economic immigrant programs. These programs are renowned as FSWP, FSTP, and CEC. All these economic immigrant programs come up with different eligibility criteria. In order to be qualified for the Express Entry pool, you will have to be qualified for any program that operates under the Express Entry.

Each immigration program under Express Entry targets a certain group of skilled professionals. Therefore, before you opt for any program, ensure you stand in line with the program’s requirements. Let’s have a look at the core requirement of each program:

FSWP: This program targets skilled foreign workers who can assist in bridging the skill shortages and contribute to the economy’s expansion. Candidates with at least one year of work experience in an occupation listed under the NOC TEER categories within the last 10 years can apply through this program.

FSTP: FSTP program under Express Entry hunts for semi-skilled workers. If you are a semi-skilled worker with more than 2 years of experience within the last 5 years, you can opt for this program for a Canada PR visa. In addition to this, you must have a job offer from a Canadian employer for at least a year or a certificate of qualification in that particular skilled trade.

CEC: CEC stands for the Canadian Experience Class. In order to be qualified for this program, you must be having at least 1 year of Canadian work experience. Along with this work experience requirement, you will have to fulfill the other requirement of the program.

Once you qualify for any program, you can submit your profile to the Express Entry applicant pool. In the pool, you will get a CRS score based on several factors. If you score a CRS score higher or equivalent to the cut-off, you will get the ITA to apply for the PR visa.
