The IRCC unveiled the 9th express entry draw of 2023 on 29 December 2023. This was a surprise draw for everyone, as it was the 3rd draw in consecutive weeks. The IRCC usually comes up with the Express Entry draw once every two weeks. However, in order to meet its historic-high immigration target, the IRCC is not chasing its typical pattern of conducting draws.
The draw conducted on 29 March 2023 was the all-program draw, which means candidates from all the operative programs under Express Entry got the ITAs. After conducting program-specific draws for two consecutive months, the IRCC restarted carrying out all program draws on 15th march 2023.
This latest Express Entry draw came out with 7,000 ITAs with a minimum CRS score of 481. Candidates from programs under The Express Entry received the ITAs meeting the minimum 481 CRS score requirement. This draw marked the lowest CRS score since IRCC restarted, taking out draws on 23 December 2020.
There are three major economic programs under the Express Entry system. These programs are FSWP, FSTP, and CEC. Although the requirements of all these programs are different. In order to apply through any program to get a Canadian PR, you must be aligning with the eligibility criteria. The prime objective of all these programs is to bring economic immigrants to Canada.
Within these three all-program Express Entry draws, the IRCC sent a total of 21,000 ITAs. In each draw, the IRCC sent 7000 ITAs respectively to all programs’ candidates.
Pathways to Get a Canadian PR
If you wish to move to Canada on a PR visa, you can apply through any pathway under the Express Entry. However, the eligibility criteria of each program are distinct. Therefore, before you initiate the process, ensure you stand in line with the program’s requirements.
Once you are eligible for any program, you can create an Express Entry profile through the official website of IRCC. After creating an EE profile, you will be entered into the pool of applicants with a CRS score. The CRS score is determined by various factors, including age, work experience, education, language proficiency, etc.
Candidates who get the highest CRS score get ITAs from the IRCC to apply for the PR visa. However, after obtaining an ITA, you are required to submit your application to the IRCC within 60 days.
What is the difference between Program-Specific and all-Program Draw?
As listed earlier, IRCC took out only program-specific draws for two months in a row. A program-specific is a type of draw in which candidates from a specific program are considered. You won’t be considered if you are meeting the CRS score but from a different program. You must be from the specific program for which the draw took place.
Since 15 March 2023, the IRCC has been conducting all-program draws. Three draws have taken place since 15 March 2023. An all-program draw is a type wherein all programs’ candidates are considered. For instance, if the IRCC released an all-program EE draw, FSWP, FSTP, and CEC candidates would be chosen.
If an applicant submits an application via any gateway under the Express Entry, the IRCC takes approximately six months to process the final PR application. If approved, the applicant can fly to Canada on a PR visa.
Immigration Targets through PNP and Express Entry
The IRCC revealed its immigration plan for 2023 to 2025, in which 1.5 million immigrants will be admitted to Canada. In 2023, the IRCC plan to invite 83,000 candidates via Express Entry online. However, the target will be 109,000 in 2024 and 114,000 in 2025.
Although since 2022, the PNP is taking over Express Entry and becoming most leading economic immigration gateway.
In Canada, almost every province and territory has got their PNP programs with multiple streams. Every Canadian province and territory nominates EE candidates aligning with their demographic and economic needs. To get appropriate candidates, territories/provinces regularly analyze the Express Entry pool.
The IRCC will be inviting 106,000 in 2023, 110,000 in 2024, and 118,000 in 2025 candidates through provincial nominee programs. However, there is a portion of PNP that relies on Express Entry. This portion is accomplished through the enhanced stream under Provincial Nominee Programs.
If any EE candidate gets a nomination from any province or territory, they will be awarded 600 additional CRS points. Having a PNP nomination can drastically boost your overall chances of securing Canadian PR.
Since the pandemic, the demand for skilled workers has increased. Therefore, in order to get through the workforce shortage, Canada is inviting temporary and permanent residents on a big scale. However, Canada is mainly looking for candidates who can support its demographic and economic goals.
In the year 2022, the Canadian population went up by 1 million people for the first time in history. You will be shocked to know that temporary and permanent are responsible for over 95 of this growth.
