Job Description:
- A pipe fitter (sometimes referred to as a spool fitter) is a skilled trade professional responsible for installing, assembling, and maintaining piping systems in various industries, including construction, manufacturing, and oil & gas.
Knowledge & Qualification:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent: Basic education is usually required as a minimum, including a background in mathematics, physics, and mechanical drawing.
- A formal pipefitting program at a technical school or trade college is highly beneficial.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Fabricate and assemble piping spools (cutting, welding, and joining pipes and fittings).
- Ensure accurate dimensions and proper welding for structural integrity.
- Read and interpret piping drawings (isometric, P&ID, GA) to guide spool fabrication and installation.
- Install pre-fabricated spools, ensuring correct placement, alignment, and secure connection to other pipes/equipment.
- Maintain and repair existing systems, diagnose issues, and carry out necessary repairs or replacements.
