Senior Mechanical Technician
Job Description:
Must have more than 10 years experience in mechanical maintenance works in the oil & Gas / Petrochemical or Power Generation industry. Meets all minimum requirements for a Senior Mechanical Technician in section 3.4 In addition to the above, the following competences are also required: a) FT-3 b) GOTCHA kit training for overboard work control. c) Rescue team member d) Emergency Response support team
Knowledge & Qualification:
a) Must have more than 10 years experience in mechanical maintenance works in the oil & Gas / Petrochemical or Power Generation industry. b) Educational qualifications: OND or equal in a relevant discipline or standard based qualification (NVQ level 3) or equivalent. nb. May be required to undertake Competency Based test witnessed by the COMPANY designated person. c) Must have a fairly good knowledge & understanding of various process equipments d) Must be able to read, write and speak English (IELTS 6 Equivalent) and to be able to communicate with the majority manpower in their language. e) Must be capable of supporting QA/QC and HSE compliance audits, site procedures and working instructions. f) Must be trained and proficient with alignment of rotating equipment with reverse dial gauge alignment and preferably rotalign / optalign equipment.
Role & Responsibilities:
g) Verifies alignment and tolerances of moving parts, using measuring instruments, such as dial indicators and thickness gauges. h) Must be able to interpret job requests, perform tests to confirm the problem and propose repair methods without permanent supervision. i) Must have experience in and be able to place and remove spades and to open and close pipe flanges, recognise the gasket types and types of bolts / nuts. j) Minimum 5% should be skilled in assembly, testing and fixing of safety relief valves and all kinds of valves at site k) Performs valve testing by using test benches or field testing. l) Must have experience in and be able to perform proper slinging and lifting with chain-blocks and small cranes, use of Gin wheel lifting. m) Should be able to deputise for the Supervisor and act as Leader to less experienced technicians. n) Must have experience in and be able to execute preparation of work packs, e.g. to carry out all the necessary work planning and preparations to be able to execute the site works and compile the relevant information in a work pack for submission with the Permit to Work request. o) Meets all minimum requirements for Mechanical Technician. p) Multiskilled craftsman as defined in Section 4, Appendix 13.
