Express Entry is the most convenient way for every person who has skills and wants to live a great lifestyle in Canada. On 19th September, Canada had an ‘All-program’ draw in which 3200 ITAs were issued to the applicants. The speculations of category-specific draw for transport occupations were also going on. This week, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held its second Express Entry draw.
On September 20, the IRCC invited 1,000 transport workers to apply for permanent residency. To get an Invitation to Apply (ITA), a minimum of 435 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score was necessary.
First Express Entry draw for Transport occupations
This was the first-ever category-based selection draw for Express Entry candidates with transportation job experience. Due to a significant labor shortage in this sector, IRCC is focusing on transportation occupations.
“The transportation sector is critical to our economy, and if we want to keep goods moving, we need to invest in the people who move people and transport goods,” says Transport Minister Pablo Rodriguez. As per the minister, “We are addressing a critical skills shortage while also attracting new, talented people to communities across Canada with this new initiative. Truck drivers, pilots, aircraft mechanical engineers, and mariners all play important roles in our economy and in the lives of Canadians. Filling these job openings would enhance economic development and build better, more robust supply networks.”

What is Express Entry?
Express Entry is a system for managing applications for three of Canada’s most popular economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
Each Express Entry program has different qualifying requirements, but they all employ the CRS score to analyze and rank candidates. It accomplishes this by awarding ratings to individual human capital criteria such as language ability, age, job experience, occupation, and educational attainment. Those with high CRS scores are more likely to get ITA for PR in Canada.
Candidates who have obtained a provincial nomination for Express Entry are more likely to get an ITA. This is because Express Entry candidates participating in the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) gain an additional 600 CRS points. This is useful because the CRS score for most Express Entry drawings runs from 350 to 550, depending on the program or category.
Following are the previous Express Entry draw results since June 2023:
