Another All-program Express Entry Draw Targets 4,300 Candidates

The latest Express Entry draw was held on 27th June. It is the fifteenth Express Entry draw of 2023 and the second draw in June after the one held on 8th June.

This was an all-program draw wherein candidates from all three programs were considered. However, in order to receive an ITA, you must be aligned with the CRS score released by the IRCC. On the other hand, the IRCC carries out program-specific draws too, wherein candidates from the specific program are invited to apply for Canadian PR visas.

A total of 4,300 applicants were invited to apply through this all-program draw held by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

According to the most recent report, the minimum required CRS score is 486. However, the last draw, held on 8th June, had the same minimum CRS score of 486, but 4,800 applicants received the invitation through that draw.

82 Occupations Eligible for Category-based Selection

IRCC will hold draws for Express Entry applicants falling under these six new categories as announced on 31st May 2023. Below are the categories:

  • Healthcare
  • Trades, such as plumbers, contractors, and carpenters
  • Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professions
  • Transport
  • Strong French-speaking abilities
  • Agriculture and agri-food

In the upcoming category-based Express Entry draws wherein above mentioned occupations will be focused, applicants will receive the ITAs based on the required language or work experience.

The above-listed categories hold the highest number of vacant positions that need to be fulfilled immediately for better growth of the economy. So, candidates with work experience in these categories would have higher chances of Canadian immigration.

In category-based draws, healthcare occupations constitute around half of the overall eligible occupations. Jobs in the STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and math) also account for a significant portion.

An applicant needs to have an active Express Entry profile to be eligible to receive the ITA based on experience in any of the listed occupations.

Furthermore, according to IRCC, the categories were selected after consultations with the provinces, territories, and other stakeholders.

IRCC has also revealed that the results of the draws and their success will be included in IRCC its annual report to parliament. According to the department, categories can change from year to year.

How Does Express Entry System Work?

Express Entry System was created by the federal government back in 2015 to manage the application of three major economic immigration programs. This online system manages the FSWP, FSTP and CEC applications. These three economic immigration programs are responsible for bringing skilled overseas workers to Canada to address the chronic labour shortages.

Candidates who are willing to relocate to Canada can apply for a PR visa through any of its programs. However, PR aspirants must note that each economic immigration pathway has different eligibility criteria. Therefore, before they proceed further, you should look at the program’s eligibility criteria. If you align with the program’s core requirements, you can start the procedure.

For example, if you apply for a PR visa through a program named FSWP, you must be with at least 1 year of work experience in an occupation listed under NOC TEER 0, 1, and 2. Along with the work experience requirement, you need to fulfill the language ability skills and minimum education requirement. The requirements of the FSWP program are easy to meet compared to other programs.

In contrast to FSWP, if you wish to submit your PR application through CEC, you must have 1 year of Canadian work experience out of the last 3 years. And if you opt for a program like FSTP, you must have a Canadian job offer for at least 1 year with a certificate of qualification.

Once you have qualified for any program operative under the Express Entry Program, you will be entered into the pool of applicants, commonly known as the Express Entry pool. You will be in the pool of applicants with a CRS score allotted to you based on characteristics like age, education, language skills, etc.

Candidates holding the highest CRS score get the ITA from the IRCC for the PR visa. Once you have received the ITA, you need to submit the application within 60 days from the date of the ITA. Later, the IRCC members will scrutinize your application to verify the documents and information you have shared through the application. If approved, you will get the Confirmation of Permanent Residency.
