Client: Leighton

Goal: Source candidates with no skill but the right education. Provide training to empower them to first master their trade and then excel towards become charge hands and foreman.

Our Offshore Oil and Gas business operates internationally with projects in India, Australia, Africa, Asia and the Middle East.”

Problem: The manpower available in India was not up to the expectations of Leighton. The available candidates did not possess the basic skill as per Leighton requirements to deliver quality to their projects. Most of the candidates have little or no education which restricted their ability to grow within the organization.

Solution: DSS recruited candidates who were 10th class pass with absolutely no trade skill. Candidates were sourced from all over India but focus was on locations where Leighton projects were being executed as local labor helps the project. A unique 28 day program was created to first deliver education on all aspects of the trade including safety. Post educating each candidate on the science behind each trade via practical and theoretical methods, focus shifted to hands on the trade itself to develop quality and productivity.

Result: Within one year, large number of the candidates trained by BITT become more productive then people who had 5+ years experience. Up to 25% of the candidates were promoted to Charge hands and Foreman. The news spread around villages very quickly as never before an opportunity was available for people with no skill to become skilled and build their life.
